- Reli-e-Marg present award-winning paper in the National
Seminar on Electricity Distribution Systems.
A National Seminar on Recent Trends and Practices in Designing, Planning, Construction, Operation and Maintenance of Electricity Distribution Systems was organized by the Karnataka Electricity Board Engineers Association and CESC in Mysore. It was inaugurated by Sri Bharat Lal Meena, Managing Director of KPTCL. Latest initiatives taken by the power utilities in Karnataka including ATP kiosks and network mapping using GIS were highlighted. Several papers were presented on new approaches, alternative energy generation using wind and solar systems, energy saving and distribution automation etc.
Reli-e-Marg presented their paper on how and why their product OpenNIS was chosen as the GIS-based grid management system for networking mapping for CESC grid in 5 districts. They won the 2nd prize for best papers presented in the seminar.

- The implementation of the OpenNIS Grid
management systems in CESC utilities kicks off with
Phase 1.
The first phase of implementation starts in early October to collect geographical information related to electricity distribution assets in the field, i.e. to take positions of all their electricity poles, substations and underground cables, using DGPS instruments. As part of the implementation process, CESC staff are being trained extensively in the use of the DGPS equipments as well as OpenNIS solutions. High voltage schematics are being mapped out right now and all currently available Background maps in arc info format have been imported into the OpenNIS system.
CESC has implemented the OpenNIS Field solution to completely register their extensive distribution grid down to each and every single end-customer to get even greater return on investments from their OpenNIS efforts. , CESC expects to witness better efficiency and quality of planning and operations by utilizing OpenNIS throughout their work processes.

- Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited (CESC) in Mysore, India has selected Cascade/Reli-e-Marg's OpenNIS suite of applications as their new grid information system.
CESC found the OpenNIS applications to be completely suitable for their all grid management requirements and have awarded the work contract for the implementation of the OpenNIS GIS applications for their entire utility grid in all the five districts of Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Mandya, Madikeri and Hassan in phases.
OpenNIS has been chosen by CESC to give them unique control in planning and operations to ensure maximum return on investments and customer satisfaction and to make quality decisions for better business.
- The Reli-e-Marg team successfully executes the CESC pilot project within the given time.
The team chose an 11KV feeder for their pilot project implementation. The project
involved two phases of work. In Phase 1, a field
survey for the geo-coding of the 11Kv grid was
accomplished using DGPS equipments in the field,
using the OpenNIS Field data logging application.
In Phase 2, a sample Grid database was constructed
in the OpenNIS GIS Grid
management application using the single line
drawings provided by CESC. The Transformer and
Line characteristics associated with the components
were entered in the database. The geo-positions
wee imported from the field survey data and stored
in the database. The map of Nanjangud provided
by CESC was used as a background map. Finally
the application with the pilot project data was
demonstrated to the CESC personnel where Load
and Short circuit analyses of the Grid with the
loads given were run and presented with impressive
results.
- Release of a new application for Performance management - The 360°
Feedback for our clients.
A 360 degree feedback is a method and a tool that provides each employee the opportunity to receive performance feedback from his or her supervisor and peers, reporting staff members, coworkers and customers. In order to execute the 360° feedback for an organization, Reli-e-Marg has developed a fully automated and integrated 360 degree feedback module.

- Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited
(CESC) in Mysore, India awards a pilot project for
implementation of a GIS-based grid management system
for their utilities.
The Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Ltd., (CESC) is a Utility company serving in the five Districts of Mysore, Chamarajnagar, Mandya, Madikeri and Hassan.
CESC wanted to implement a GIS-based electrical grid management software solution for distribution and maintenance, that could take care of support planning, technical documentation and grid asset management, advanced electric analysis, geographic and schematic documentation of grid and components, customer information, effective work oriented day-to-day utility operations, work order management, economic accounting and government reporting etc. After a response of 22 vendors for their global tender, CESC chose Reli-e-Marg/Cascade as one of the vendors for a pilot project implementation using the OpenNIS GIS Grid management applications. The pilot project is to be completed within a stipulated period on a chosen feeder belonging to the CESC utilities, and a demonstration is to be given to CESC personnel on completion of the pilot for evaluation and further processing.
